2006 Festival Recap

Weather…
The day of the festival was pretty nice. Mid 90s with mild winds that later became pretty strong around 2:30pm. The forecast for the day had said 10-15mph winds later gusting to 30mph. Still better than the winds we had at the 2005 event.

New This Year…
New to this years fest was the bike raffle, door prizes, t-shirts on location, limbo, parade ride and 12 pizzas. Tom Sawyer Bicycles donating the raffle bike.

Mr Larry won the overall Lowride Limbo contest. Larry won riding his child hood bike that he recently restored. Bill won the above 20″ class with the Grim Reaper.

We estimate close to 100 attendees and 200 bikes. 95 bikes were entered in the “People’s Choice” competition. People came from as far away as Dodge City and the Kansas City area.

Successful 2nd Festival

First I’ll start with the thank yous…
A BIG THANKS to everyone who attended. Especially those that came from as far away as Kansas City, Dodge City and cities in between. Also thanks to those who helped out. Thanks to sponsors Tom Sawyer Bicycles for the bike they donated, the Corn Maze at Bergmann Pumpkin Farm, Haysville Times/Online, Haysville Embroidery and Jack and the Bicycle Exchange for items and services they donated.

A rough (really rough) guestimate of the attendance would be close to 100 attendees that came and went and almost twice that many bikes. 95 bikes alone were registered for the People’s Choice award.
Hope everyone had a good time. What a cool thing to see this many bicycles and bicycle enthusiasts in one place. Oh and I thought the limbo was great! That’s a keeper for next year so be practicing or building that special “limbo bike”.
Speaking of next year we of course hope to improve this event so your ideas and suggestions are welcome (reply to this e-mail or use the “Contact” link on the website). If you would like to help next year you can let us know also.
