Perry Bicycle Route Signage Installation

From the Wichita Bicycle Master Plan…

The City of Wichita is in the process of installing the signs for the Perry Street Bicycle Route in the North Riverside Neighborhood. This project will provide signed wayfinding for cyclists along the bicycle route, connecting the Rosalie Bradley Path (along the Little Arkansas River and 21st St.) to both the East and West Arkansas River Paths. This project is made possible by a donation from the Wichita Initiative to Renew the Environment (WIRE) organization, accepted by the Wichita City Council on March 26, 2013.

New Multi-Use Pathway Honors Phil Lambke

?A pathway dedication honoring late Wichita City Council member Phil Lambke is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday in Garvey Park, 3501 S. Washington. The 1.3 mile pathway, named Phil Lambke Pathway, connects from Garvey Park to Chapin Park.

Lambke, who served as the District III Council Member from 1997 to 2005, was instrumental in the development of Garvey Park. He provided vision and direction for the first canoe launch from Garvey Park in 2005. His passion for public service and desire to serve his constituents contributed to park improvements and developments.

“The naming of this pathway honors Mr. Lambke’s work and legacy,” Mayor Brewer said. “The improvements ensure residents will enjoy the recreational amenities for years to come.”

Scheduled attendees include Mayor Carl Brewer and Council Member Jeff Longwell.

Wichita Park & Recreation supports eight recreation centers, nine swimming pools, 52 athletic fields, five golf courses, six interactive fountains, numerous adult and youth-based activities and athletic programs and 2,407 acres of rights-of-way.
