The Wichita Downtown Development Corp. has again organized an I Bike Douglas Ride for this Saturday, June 23rd at 9 a.m.
The Architectural Ride departs at 9 a.m. from WDDC?s office at 507 E. Douglas. This tour will take an in-depth look at some of the architectural treasures strewn throughout Downtown. From sleek modern designs to art deco influences, to ornately carved limestone treasures, Downtown Wichita offers numerous examples of the city?s architectural heritage. Come prepared to learn abut Wichita?s fascinating architectural history and heritage including buildings by Proudfoot & Bird; Schmitt, Boucher & Overend; Richards
McCarthy & Bulford; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright on Wichita. Over 30 buildings will be featured in this ride led by native Wichitan and architectural historian, Dee Starkey.
These rides are designed to be leisurely and all ages are welcome. Cameras are allowed and encouraged, as there will be ample opportunity to capture some unique and memorable photographs. All rides are free, but donations are appreciated.
