Faux Straight Bar Redux

I had this aluminum straight bar knock off frame stashed away and decided to build it up again for something different to ride for a while. Previously I’d ridden the bike in primer but this time I wanted to give it some color. Monday was warm enough to do so. I touched up the primer and then gave it a couple coats of Krylon “Satin Island Splash”. Once the paint was dry to the touch I built it up using parts out of my parts stash and the tires off of the Heavy Duti which will go into hibernation for a while. It’s single speed coaster brake with a front V-brake. I rode it yesterday to lunch, 20 or so miles. It’s a pretty comfortable ride. I like the stripped down look of the bike and it’s light weight but a bike without the means to carry things isn’t very practical for me. We’ll see if I give in and add a rear rack or front basket.

A few more details on the bike… Brooks B67 saddle, crankset off a Mongoose BMX, Union platform pedals, steel Marin fork, aluminum rims, tires are Geax Booze 26×2.3, handlebars I assume off of a BMX, unknown grips, V-brake off of Nova’s old mtb with a new lever I purchased previously, the denim seat bag my Mother made and a LocoJoe.com decals.

Side note: The beer we had with lunch is a Wichita Brewing Company porter made specifically for the casino at which we ate. It’s served (optionally) in a sugar and spice rimmed glass. Pretty good.
