The day for many of us began at the Old Mill Tasty Shop for breakfast before heading over to the Old Town Farmers Market where we displayed our bikes. In the afternoon we moved to the West side where we displayed our bikes in the Delano District as part of the I Bike Douglas event. It was a great day with the only negative being the wind.

I Bike Douglas! May 22, 2010
Come join in the celebration of the bicycle!

Three groups are teaming up in celebration of the bicycle. Douglas Design District, Wichita Downtown Development Corporation and the Delano District are launching the "I Bike Douglas" movement with a day of activities and bike related fun on Saturday, May 22nd.
The day in celebration of the bike will promote the benefits of biking while also increasing the general public's awareness and respect for bicycle riders.

"More and more people are opting to ride bikes," said event organizer, Ann Keefer. "We want the day to serve as a visible reminder to motorists that they are sharing the road, but probably the best way to educate motorists on bicyclists' rights to the road is to ride respectfully. So, bike safety and maintenance clinics will be a major part of the day."

Yard signs, posters, and flyers have been made to announce the big event. "I Bike Douglas" posters and flyers are available. Don't forget bike racks are now on all city buses. You may opt to ride the bus to Douglas Ave to participate!

We will be participating in the Mayor's Family Bike Day on Saturday, June 12th 9:00am to Noon in Central Riverside Park. We will be showing our bikes and if you like, participating in the rides. We could possibly ride in shifts to insure we have enough bikes on display. Plan on being there no later than 9:00am. Earlier if you're bringing multiple bikes in a vehicle that will need to be unloaded. More details to come. Click here for location.
