Wichita has many paths and routes to get you from point A to point B or for cruising and sight seeing. Not listed are the Midtown and Planeview paths. This map contains both existing and future paths.

Haysville has a nice path system that runs through out the city.

Eldorado has a paved path from town to Eldorado Lake.

Prairie Sunset Trail is a gravel rail-to-trail. Trail heads in Goddard at Santa Fe & Main and in Garden Plain at N Section Line Road at the park.

Julyapalooza is an event being put on by the Midwest Historical and Genealogical Society on Saturday, July 10th from 11:00am to 3:00pm at 1203 N. Main (right on the Midtown bike path). We've been asked to display our vintage bicycles along side vintage cars and motorcycles. There will also be a genealogy book and materials sale, tours of their library, a hot dog vendor and hourly drawings.
This event is for antique bikes only. I need to know in advance if you are participating. Only bikes that are 60s vintage or older, restored, original (or as close to original that the general public wouldn't know the difference). The bikes will be displayed outside and yes it will probably be hot. I'll provide shade and cold drinks. You may also just drop your bike(s) off and go hide somewhere cool. We do need a couple people to stay and answer questions. This event will give us a chance to spread bicycle love to a new audience, presumably those interested in history.

Let me know if you would like to participate and I'll fill you in on the details.

Today the Wichita city council approved changes to the current bicycle ordinance.
Unless there is a usable bicycle path next to the street, cyclists can now ride in the streeet no longer having to be within 5 feet of the curb. Eliminated from the ordinance was being required to license a bicycle and use a bike rack if one is available within a city block.

This January I made an assumption and posted about work being done on a new bicycle path connecting the Arkansas River path to Chapin Park. See post here. I have just learned that I was wrong in my assumption and wanted to post a correction. There will be a new bicycle path as mentioned above but it will be on the other side of the river and work has not yet begun on it but should begin sometime this year. What I posted about is actually just levy work along the river as required by the Corps of Engineers.
