The First Midwest Bicycle Swap

The first ever Midwest Bicycle Swap was held today at the Hometown market in Haysville. A large turnout of both buyers and sellers. The swap area filled up early and bikes and parts continued to show up through out the day. Lots of stuff traded hands. Things wound down around 1:30pm at about the same time the wind became unbearable.
Thanks to Grillmaster Mitch for putting this on, Accent Mobile Music for providing the sound and The Central States Metal Artisans for opening the Blacksmith Shop.

I just wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to ALL who participated and made this event a success!! The turnout validated to me that the Wichita area was in "need" of a bicycle swap meet. We will be back next year and with your participation, even bigger and better!

Had a GREAT TIME at the swapmeet, SUNDAY. Now just waiting on TIM, to sale me that tandem bought CHEAP

Thanks for putting on the swap meet everone. Wished I would have bought the light brown leather seat that was for sale. Thanks for the great show!

Fantastic swap... I was impressed with the quality of stuff for sale and the people buying all that cool stuff. Nice job everyone.

Is this only annual ...is there going to be another of this type event soon?

I believe this is just going to be an annual event. As great as it was and as much as I'm ready to do it again, IMHO I think more than once a year it would quickly thin out and people would tire of it. Better one big one than multiple small ones (again IMHO). I think one reason this was such a success is because people had been sitting on their stuff for so long with no way to get rid of it (other than online).
There will probably be a Peddlers swap this fall in Independence. Also look at the calender at right for other nearby swaps.
Also the Midwest Bicycle Fest this fall is a good place to network, make contacts, ask around for stuff etc... just no buying/selling on site.

Randy has it right. We are doing the Midwest Bicycle Swapmeet once a year. Twice a year would be too much. I should have the date for next year's swap ironed out pretty soon, in the meantime... start collecting parts!! And yes the Midwest Bicycle Fest is a great place to show off your stuff, and get in touch with others. Thanks again!!
