This race is all about fun. They have a great hill right down Main Street about 2 blocks long that generates speeds over 30 mph. 134 cars this year, 47 in the Adult Competition class. There may be a new race in Tulsa coming up so maybe we can do 3 Oklahoma races next year. Thanks Jose for running the wagon (undefeated all day) & all your help with my car. Randy & Nova helped with this race & got pictures for us. Wess & Barbara brought their car & got some good runs in. It was soooo much better looking than any of the others. We learned that it takes a lot of help to run these races, everyone was busy all day. What a great weekend.
Hi Kevin---I don't think it was. I think the Garmin said I was at 30.3 mph. I ran 32.9 earlier. I don't know what the e.t. was but it was around 26 to27 seconds all day. They timed every run but didn't publish the times. I think Randy & Wess know more about the times than I do. You might ask them. The OKC runs were slower, around 25.5 mph even with the push. I was so lucky not to have hurt a guy the night before the Sand Springs race. It was almost dark & they let Wess & I do a run down a ramp they wanted to try. At the bottom of the hill a guy stepped out of a truck right in front of me. I didn't miss him by much. We were lucky in so many ways-----
Another Gravity Event - FYI
Date: Thu, 29 Oct 2009 10:20:22 -0700 From: kcgravityracers@yahoo.com To: kcgravityracers@yahoo.com Greetings All !! I am organizing an event that will take place in September of 2010 in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. This event will be a hot rod show for non-motorized machines! Anything from hot wheels, pinewood derby, soap box derby, bicycles, electrics, velo cars, wind powered...anything and everything No-Gas!! If anyone is interested in showing his or her machine(s) at this event, or if you know anyone else who is, please respond to this message for more info. No charges to show, just a short registration form to submit, then show up, and then show off! The event is planned to end with a dodge ball game down the street from the event location, there's fantastic food right across the street, and we're working on some attractions to make it a great draw! A new Kansas City roller derby team will even be coming out to help us make the event awesome! This is a great opportunity to show off your work, promote something you like, and meet others who share your enthusiasm for these machines. Lets make it a great show for spectators and great event for builders riders and racers! Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any photos from before the turn of the century of any Wichita bicycle clubs and i
n particular of any bicycle repair shops. Our house (which is now the Delano Bed and Breakfast) was built by Morris Scho
llenberger who was one of three brothers who owned the Schollenberger & Co. bicycle repair shop located at 230 N Main in
Wichita. The brothers closed the [...]
