We receive re-conditioned bikes from time to time. At the present time, we have a Schwinn Varsity with headlamp, light generator, disc brakes, rear carrier rack and chrome fenders. Also, we have a Peugeot with very narrow tires. Is anyone interested in these?
Hello, Paul.
I'd be curious to see the Peugeot. Thank you, Bruce Humphrey

Have a wonderful weekend! Peace
Hi! I am new to your club and have been lucky enough to so far have Steve S. agree to restore my 1960 girls Schwinn back to the great bike it was (it was the original bike I learned on) when he has time. I brought my bike to your Bikefest this weekend and was totally impressed by the friendliness with which I was greeted---one problem for me and I need some help--do you ever have a singles get together of Coaster members? I saw a lot of couples and famalies there, but I really need to hook up with a nice guy to cruise with! I have tried all the regular outlets and to no avail! I am 57, look pretty good for my age, work at the P.O. and have weekends off. Love motorcycles, bikes, travel, just having fun and passionate about life! If anyone wants to respond (or you have a potential person you know of that might enjoy a"coasting" buddy) please let me know. Hope this is acceptable as a "comment"--but girls just want to have fun--and NOT alone! Looking forward to hearing from any and all! Thanks! Diane
Please join us this Thursday at the ShamRock Lounge for our Pub Pedal around 7 to 7:30 pm. I am single, too, and know how hard it is to meet like-minded people. Look for the guy riding the satin black Electra.
Bob- Thanks so much for the reply. Unfortunately I work nights (3:15 p.m. until 11:45 p.m.) M-F. Sometimes I can take off a Thursday night, but not this week. I leave on vacation to Dallas for 4 days starting this Sat. Do you ever bike anywhere on a weekend? I would be available on Sunday Oct. 12th. Usually I am free any weekend pretty much...just so happens that the next couple involves vacation time and the Columbus Day holiday. Also, if you would like a picture of me I would be happy to send one to your e-mail. Thanks again! Look forward to hearing back from you. Are there many other singles besides us that go to the events? Have a good day! Diane
Well, your not gonna believe this, but I bought a bike this morning! I got in my truck to go to work, and noticed the neighbors were setting up stuff for a garage sale, I wandered over and bought a nice 26" cruiser for $20 Now I finally have something I can Rat Rod.

Oh BTW, I have a 16" Schwinn Stingray (new style) that Im using for parts... so far all I have used is the front forks and wheel. I still have the frame, crank, rear tire & wheel, seat, and misc small stuff. If anyone needs any of these parts, I would be willing to trade for anything I might need for my "Rat" project.
Stuff I need... Setback style seat post, maybe a cool set of handlebars, pedals, grips, etc.

SUBJECT: Tandem
(#16: Tandem)??? Has anyone a mouldering tandem, or the remnants thereof, which I might cobble into a rideable built-for-two in these dim, drab winter days ahead? Thank you. 263-2016
Winter projects, anyone?
Anyone remember the spate of small-wheeled bicycles which were a '60s-'70s presence, touted as "portable" or "travelers'" bicycles? The famous Moulton Stowaway was the delightful fruit of lauded British engineer Sir Alec Moulton, and Brompton and Raleigh, and eventualy practically everyone else, took a turn at the concept. By the time bell bottoms were gone, so were most of these. Though some variant occasionaly shows up in odd corners, like Hammacher Schlemer. I have a Tote Bike, if I remember the name correctly, marketed by our venerable Sears, Roebuck and Company. It needs a wheel, I think, and a chain, and dot of this and a dash of that, but shouldn't require much agony to have this curiosity back on the street. The frame is separable in the approximate center via jug-earred thumb screws; hence the claimed portability. Also to hand are an assortment of the "English lightweights" or "English racers" ...three speeds, in other words... which we secretly pined for when presented our Christmas Schwinn Black Phantoms. Spoiled little ingrates, some of us, in those halcyon days! If you fancy wrenching a classic back to life, I'm at taichung00@yahoo.com Thank you. |
