Cottonwood Trails – Arkansas City

Today I trucked a bike to the near-by town of Arkansas City to ride new mtb trails they’re working on. The trails are in a wooded area between the Arkansas River and the dike which protects the city from flooding. The trails are overgrown in some places and there’s poison ivy and ticks but I still enjoyed it. I managed to stay upright and the only time I couldn’t ride was in the sand when the trail was at the rivers edge. The trails are a work in progress and I’m sure will get even better with more work and usage. Hats off to those who are making it happen.
According to the trail’s Facebook page there is 8.5 miles of trail.
There is also a multi-use path atop the dyke which is about 2.5 miles long.
Once I’d had my fill of the single-track I rode across town for lunch.

Here’s a post from a previous time riding in Arkansas City.
